Student opportunities and activities
At Hillston Central School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.

Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.
Choir is available for all students from K-10. Our choirs practice weekly and perform at a wide range of events from ANZAC Day to KROP. This is a key part of our Performing Arts program.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
Hillston Central School offers one major excursion each year for students in Years 3 & 4, Years 5 & 6 and Years 7-12. Kindergarten to Year 2 have day trips organised.
Excursions are an important part of education and offer learning opportunities in a variety of ways:

Virtual STEM
Stem prepares students to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world and supports Australia's innovation and economic growth by fostering inquiry-based learning and practical problem-solving, Key to STEM education is the integration of curriculum areas along with general capabilities to solve authentic, real-world problems.
